Bumped

This week I’ve been mulling over a verse that a friend pointed out to me some 25 years back. It’s not familiar enough to make most Sunday School memorization lists, but it’s one that has transformed my thinking nonetheless.

I Thessalonians 3:12 reads, “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else.” Did you catch the key word? “Overflow!”

From the point I really grasped Paul’s challenge until today, this has been my life’s aim – to live out of the overflow of God’s love. For me it’s the image of a water pitcher filling a glass beyond its capacity. That’s how I want to live my life. So that whenever someone or some life circumstance “bumps” me, my reaction will be one of love overflowing rather than one of overflowing anger or irritation.

From time to time I’ll use this little space on the website to introduce you to Quarryville staff members and residents who are serving, equipping and enriching the lives of others from God’s never ending overflow.

What happens when you’ve been bumped?
